Blissful Things

Digital art is one of my favorite mediums to work in. An image can take on an entirely different ambiance depending on the washes and textures that are layered over. I began dabbling in still art photography when I found myself inspired to create different groupings for my photography.
As the daughter and grand daughter of fine artists I grew up with art always surrounding me. Some of my sweetest memories are that of paintings in various stages of progress and brushes wet with the pigments of watercolor, acrylic, and oil paint.
Here I was given some of my earliest lessons in the concept of layout and design and the importance of the eye having a place to land. Continuity was also stressed along with the concept of dark and light contrast.
As a writer, first and foremost, photography has created a space for me to create compositions and my own version of art.
I created “Blissful Things” which simply captured a moment of my daily and a few moments spent to enjoy some of my favorite things on a Saturday afternoon.
This image which came together so authentically confirms for me that some of my best photography is often inspired in the moment and less contrived. Often, the perfect angle just has a way of presenting itself. I believe it is closer to life and less of an imitation. In this instance, the photographer is more of a bystander who is able draw on a moment that is already in existence.
